EU ECO konferencia Horvátországban
A Westpannon Nonprofit Kft. munkatársai és Majthényi Tamás, Halászi község polgármestere november 6-8. között részt vettek az EU-ECO projekt szakmai konferenciáján Horvátországban, Križevci városában. A háromnapos rendezvény a klímasemleges városok felé vezető utat és a fenntartható fejlődés kérdéseit helyezte középpontba.
Gazdag szakmai program
November 7-én délelőtt szakmai programmal indult a nap. A reggeli után a CERV program bemutatására került sor, majd Križevci városának klímasemlegességre való törekvését ismertették „Križevci: The Path Towards a Climate-neutral City" címmel. Délelőtt az EU-ECO projekt részletes prezentációját hallgathatták meg a résztvevők, délután pedig interaktív előadás következett a reziliens infrastruktúra kiépítéséről.
A délután programja különösen sokszínű volt: a szakmai előadások mellett irányított városnézésre, mozi fórumra és fotótúrára is sor került. Az estét egy hangulatos esemény zárta – borkóstoló koncerttel egybekötve, amely a "Gornjevinska klet" borospincében zajlott
November 8-án kerekasztal-beszélgetés foglalkozott az okos, ökologikus élelmiszertermelés témájával a Križevci Vállalkozói Központ kistermében.
Križevci – vendégszerető város gazdag örökséggel
Križevci Horvátország egyik legrégebbi városa Közép-Horvátországban, 18 949 fős lakossággal. A város stratégiai helyzetben található a Kalnik-hegy déli lábánál, mindössze 57 kilométerre Zágrábtól, ami miatt egyre inkább a főváros „szatellitvárosává" válik. Közel helyezkedik el Koprivnicához (31 km), Bjelovarhoz (33 km) és Varaždinhoz (48 km), így fontos közlekedési csomópont a régióban. A városban erős vállalkozói kultúra él. A Križevci Fejlesztési Központ és Technológiai Park ösztönzi a vállalkozói szellemet, innovációt és gazdasági fejlődést. A város már több mint másfél évszázada, 1860 óta otthont ad Európa ezen részének első gazdasági és erdészeti iskolájának, amelynek hagyományait ma a Križevci Mezőgazdasági Főiskola folytatja.
Magas színvonalú szakmai konferencia és kivételes vendégszeretet
A konferencia szakmai színvonala kiemelkedő volt. A programban a klímasemleges városok felé vezető út minden fontos aspektusa helyet kapott: az EU-s keretprogramok bemutatásától kezdve a gyakorlati megvalósításon át a gazdasági szereplők bevonásáig. Az interaktív előadások és kerekasztal-beszélgetések lehetőséget teremtettek a tapasztalatcserére és a hálózatépítésre. Križevci vendégszeretete pedig méltó módon kiegészítette a szakmai programot. A szervezők olyan helyszíneket választottak a vacsorákhoz és rendezvényekhez, amelyek bemutatták a város gasztronómiai örökségét. A kulturális programok – a városnézés, a mozi fórum és a borkóstoló koncert – harmonikusan egészítették ki a szakmai tartalmat, lehetővé téve a résztvevők számára, hogy mélyebben megismerjék a város kultúráját és hagyományait.
A háromnapos rendezvény példaértékűen mutatta be, hogyan lehet ötvözni a magas színvonalú szakmai programot a helyi kultúra és vendégszeretet bemutatásával, miközben a résztvevők értékes kapcsolatokat építhettek a klímasemlegesség és fenntartható városfejlesztés területén dolgozó európai kollégákkal.

The EU ECO project event (full name: Cooperation and improvement of local knowledge to sustainable places to live) took place in the city of Križevci, Croatia, from November 6-8, 2025, gathering more than 200 domestic and international participants for a three-day program.
The purpose of the project is to empower citizens to be familiar with EU policies and to actively participate in democratic processes at the European Union level. The project is also designed to foster a sense of belonging to a European identity. A special emphasis was placed on ecological policies and the goals of the European Green Deal.
The project is co-financed by the European Education and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA) under the Citizens, Equality, Rights and Values (CERV) programme, Town Twinning sub-programme.
Here are the details from the three-day event:
Day 1
The first day of the event was reserved for the arrival and accommodation of the participants. On the same day, attendees were presented with the fully electric city buses and the concept of free rides for all citizens. The electric buses utilize electricity generated from municipal photovoltaic power plants installed on city-owned buildings, such as kindergartens, primary schools, sports halls, etc.
Day 2
The second day of the event consisted of the following activities:

CERV Program and EU Policies: Participants were first presented with the CERV (Citizens, Equality, Rights and Values) program and the European Union's policies. These focus on promoting and protecting EU values and fundamental rights, equality of all citizens, volunteerism, environmental protection, and other values encouraged by the CERV program.

EU ECO Project Presentation: Following this, Krunoslav Đurec presented the EU ECO Project. He briefly explained that the project's purpose is to empower citizens for active participation in democratic processes at the European Union level. The project is designed to foster a sense of belonging to the European identity. A key objective is to enhance citizens' knowledge about the European Union and its policies, with special emphasis placed on environmental policies and the goals of the European Green Deal.

Partner Organization Presentations: This was followed by presentations from partner organizations, detailing their contributions to the implementation of EU policies related to civil society development and environmental protection.

Panel Discussion and Best Practice: A panel discussion was then opened, preceded by a presentation by Ivana Dubravec from the City of Križevci administration. Križevci is a city aiming for climate neutrality by 2030. The presentation included a short documentary film entitled "Križevci – The City with the Smallest Climate Footprint in Croatia."

Resilient Infrastructure: Following the panel debate, Ivana Šatrak presented on the topic of building resilient social infrastructure.

Cultural Exchange and Geocaching: After lunch, a photography tour activity took place, where high school students from the technical school in Novi Sad, Serbia, presented connections between Croatia and Serbia through a short photography exhibition, "My European City." The day concluded with a geocaching game, a city tour, and highlighting elements of shared history between Križevci and all countries represented in the project.

Evening Program: In the evening, after dinner, the traditions and customs of Križevci were presented, accompanied by a concert of traditional tamburitza music.
Day 3
The third day of the event featured a round table on the topic of "Smart Ecological Food Production." This included a presentation of the "Zdravo Križevci" (Healthy Križevci) project—an initiative connecting organic food producers and consumers via a mobile smartphone application and web platform.
