Talent School

The aim of the project is to create a new educational focus for schools in the border area with young people between the ages of 10 and 14. In a Talent School, there is not only information about career opportunities. In a Talent School, students can get to know and try out the most important regional and socially relevant professions in a company environment. This looks simple at first glance, but in practice it poses countless challenges. However, examples from other countries show that it is possible. And it is also urgently needed. The prerequisite for this, however, is that previous hurdles are overcome and cross-sector collaboration between schools and business are established.

The first activity of the project is the establishment of a cross-border partnership of organizations from education, business, the labor market and the regions. Based on national and international experience and with the support of experts from the education sector, a convincing basic pedagogical concept for Talent Schol is being developed.

Teachers from pilot schools will then receive targeted training on how to implement this basic concept in their schools. Local implementation starts with the establishment of a local partnership in which schools, teachers, parents, companies and the community are represented. Together, regionally and socially significant occupations are selected and suitable methods for learning about and testing the occupational activities are developed and tested in cooperation between the school and the business community.

Close cross-border cooperation is necessary for the success of the project. The labor market in the border region between Austria and Hungary is strongly interconnected. Solutions to the shortage of skilled workers can only work if they are effective on both sides of the border. This also applies to many other areas. It is therefore important that cross-border cooperation begins in elementary school. Unfortunately, this is rarely the case. Talent School will therefore have a second focus in addition to the professional experience. The hallmark of Talent School will also be learning and testing cooperation and communication with students from neighboring countries.

Based on the experience gained from the pilot projects, a common manual for a Talent School will be created. This manual will clearly describe how to successfully introduce the new focus in a school and which methods have proven successful in enabling students to gain concrete professional experience during their school career and, based on this, to make good decisions for life.

The operational and strategic partners of the project will establish a cross-border consortium, which will be the sustainable carrier of the overall concept. It will develop quality criteria for Talent School and award a corresponding distinction to all schools that meet these criteria. The aim is for the model to be continued by all pilot schools, to be adopted by new schools and to help provide young people with competent support in making good career choices and to increase the supply of skilled workers for the region's businesses.
