Smart Shopping Mobility
Brief summary
Shopping and running private errands make up about 30% of daily traffic. Shopping is by far the most important destination in cross-border transport as well. The proportion of environmentally friendly means of transport in this case – especially regarding cross-border transport – is much lower than in the case of commuting to work. This applies for transport to large shopping centers, shopping-related traffic among regions, just as much as for trips aiming at „local services“. The changes in demographics and economic structure (especially regarding „local service“), need solutions that establish sustainable mobility from an environmental aspect and create synergy among the transport services and the services of the local suppliers. There is not enough experience on the factors of the means of transport choices, as well as the population’s cross-border shopping-mobility-demands for the development of environmentally friendly and socially sustainable mobility offers.
