ICTr-CE

The EuroVelo network which spanning across the European continent has great importance in terms of cycling tourism and very well-known among cyclists. The EuroVelo Route 13 - the Iron Curtain Trail - is a significant route by historical and cultural aspects as well, stretching for approximately 10,000 km along the former Iron Curtain between the Barents Sea and the Black Sea.  However, the potential of the transnational cycling routes in Central Europe is still considered to be unexploited and, in many respects, they are underdeveloped, the adaptation of innovative, green and digital solutions is challenging for the tourism service providers and operators. In order to support them in this challenge, the ICTr-CE project has been set up to create a network, based on an innovative business model and international cooperation, linked by a common (Iron Curtain Trail - EV13) tourism product.

The aims of the project:

  • development of cycling tourism products along the EuroVelo13 (in 3 cross-border “pilot areas"), that will be bookable online;
  • development of an innovative and sustainable business model for small and medium sized enterprises related to cycling tourism along the Iron Curtain route (EV13), actively involving the relevant actors and strengthening their innovation capacity;
  • development of an impact measurement system and "Good Impact" valorisation programme, which will contribute to the sustainable development of the area in a number of ways.

According to the expectations, the results of the project will be transferable and adaptable to all EuroVelo routes.
