EURUFU

Examining the potential inherent in rural areas

The project is an example of the Central European technical and methodological cooperation, creativity-oriented workshops. According to the commission of the Office for National Economic Planning, as part of the 7-nation-wide project, our company was responsible for the analysis of the selected sample areas, the preparation of various demographic scenarios via statistical methods based on the analysis of the public utilities‘ norms and standards, and the elaboration of a benchmarking system, visualizing the results on a map as well. The partner regions‘ common strategy was prepared based on all the above mentioned aspects with us providing our professional support.

Numerous rural regions in Central Europe are characterized by a drastic fall in the number of their population. Granting the basic conditions necessary for everyday life in the future for the regions concerned remains vital amidst the changing conditions. In Europe, there are already good examples as to how the economy, education, health and social services can be adapted to the new needs of the shrinking regions.

The EURUFU assessed these international experiences in the regions showing declining population, and in a transnational approach elaborated on standardized norms and indicators, as well as innovative and integrated strategies that can help preserve or develop the quality of life of those living in areas of depopulation or in aging regions and the social integration of different age groups.

By sharing the international experiences and knowledge, the rural population may have access to equal opportunities and living conditions. The EURUFU has developed transnational strategies in order to optimize and finance regional self-sustaining solutions. The overall aim was to ensure the future viability of rural areas.
