Amazing AoE
The project was successfully closed.
At the beginning of the project, the establishment of the world’s first 5-Country Biosphere Reserve including 12 protected areas is just around the corner. The area along the three rivers of Mura, Drava and Danube is often called „Amazon of Europe” since it can be considered as the largest and the most preserved free-flowing river system in Central Europe. Pristine natural beauty, endangered habitats and diverse cultural traditions have enormous potential for sustainable tourism, which can be a great opportunity for the underdeveloped border regions facing with a lot of diffuculties like the lack of capacities, unemployment and emigration.
The project relies on the results of the „Amazon of Europe Bike Trail” project (also DTP project) which creates bicycle tourism product and a unique brand by connecting many key stakeholders of the region. The designed trail together with the related booking system and valorisation programme all will be upgraded and integrated into responsible, green destination „Amazon of Europe”.
The aim of the partnership comprised by 13 partners to enhance sustainable economic growth and tourism development based on distinctive natural and cultural heritage, which will result in collaboration network of key actors and enabling environment for high-quality tourism, responding to the limited resources of ecosystems. In order to reach these goals, the following activities will be implemented in frame of the project Amazing AoE:
- Green Destination Tourism Impact Model, combining social and technological innovation;
- joint strategy and management model for the destination;
- joint flagship tourism products connecting top experiences along the rivers: River Trail, Hiking Trails, AoE Experiences;
- 6 digital investments in the project area;
- model validation in 2 transnational pilot areas and training stakeholders for responsible green destination.
